Farms and Apple Orchards
Looking for somewhere new and fun to
visit while you enjoy Camping in NC
near the Blue Ridge Mountains?
Asheville North Carolina and the
surrounding mountain villages are

orchards that are wonderful places
to spend an afternoon exploring, and
you may even pick up something yummy
and homemade to take home! With more
and more vacationers looking for
unique, less commercial activities
for their Asheville
Vacations, these types of
attractions have
become more and more popular; as
such many of the local working farms
and orchards have begun offering
tours and family events. Autumn is
the most popular time for apple
picking.
Grandad’s Apples N’ Such
Grandad’s Apples N’ Such is a
four generation apple and peach
orchard that operates on 18
beautiful acres in Hendersonville
NC. Visit the farm and tour the
orchards and pick your own fruit
right off the tree! In addition to
picking your own, the farm also
offers delicious homemade pies,
jams, ciders, jellies and other
fresh goods for sale in autumn.

JH Stepp Farm/Hillcrest Orchard
The Stepp family has operated
their 70 acre working farm and apple
orchard for several generations and
was the first Western North Carolina
apple orchard to offer Pick Your Own
Apple days and tours. Offering
tours, apples for purchase and a
chance to pick your own, the Stepp
family welcomes you to enjoy a day
at their farm. Take a wagon ride of
the farm, explore the orchards and
learn more about the farm’s more
than 22 varieties of apples
including old favorites like Golden
Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny
Smith and rare finds like Law Rome, Fugi, Cameo and so much more.

Lyda Farms
 Head over to Lyda Farms in
Hendersonville and you will pick up
more than just apples and jam; this
fifth generation working farm and
apple orchard also sells organic
meats, eggs, and fresh vegetables
and is open for tours as well. In
autumn the farm’s large pumpkin
patch is filled with pumpkins that
are perfect for all of your fall
décor and Halloween festivities.
Located at 3465 Chimney Rock Road in
Hendersonville, Lyda Farms is very
close to other farms in the
area that are also open for tours.

The Curb Market
The historic Curb Market is a
wonderful community farmer’s and
craft market that began in
Hendersonville in 1924. Since then,
the market has been a focal point
for the community, and “city folk”
from all around the larger metro
regions in Western NC venture to the
market to find fresh vegetables,
meats, plants, fresh cut flowers and
all kinds of great homemade gifts and
crafts. The Curb Market is located

Asheville Farm
Visit Asheville Farm and you can
explore a working goat farm, chicken
coop and sheep herd all in the same
stop. Asheville Farm is home to
guinea fowl, dairy goats and
Icelandic sheep and is a wonderful
place for families to visit who have
small children. You can pick
up fresh veggies and other delights
